Specialty Coatings

Waterborne Acrylic and Urethane

Waterborne Acrylic and Urethane coatings are custom designed to meet customers specified performance requirements. These coatings are intended for the application over polycarbonate, polystyrene, acrylics and polypropylene, substrates. Also available are Direct-to-Metal (DTM) waterborne coatings. Our 1K waterborne systems provide excellent appearance, chemical resistance and allow for a reduction of VOC and odor. Waterborne Acrylic DTM coatings are an excellent option for applications requiring medium-light duty corrosion resistance and exterior durability.

AQUAPRIME

AQUAPRIME is a flexible waterborne primer-surfacer designed for use on plastic body substrates including bumpers, grills, spoilers, valances, and body panels. The high solids of AquaPrime provide excellent fill and build properties and is compatible with most basecoat/clearcoat products.

TECHNICAL DATA: Weight Per Gallon, lbs: 10.0 Reducer: Not required, ready to spray. V.O.C. , lbs/gal 0.80 Appearance: Low Gloss Black Solids, wt %: 44.0

SUBSTRATES:

AquaPrime will adhere to variety of unpainted surfaces including:

Sheet Molding Compound (SMC)

Bulk Molding Compound (BMC)

Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC)

Polycarbonate (PC)

Ethylene Propylene Diene Modified (PP/EPDM)

Ethylene Propylene Modified (PP/EPM)

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)

Polyfenylene Oxide Polymer (PPO)

Polyurethane (PUR)

Polypropylene (PP) or Thermal Polyolefin (TPO) substrates will need to be coated with an adhesion promoter before the application of AquaPrime Primer-Surfacer

APPLICATION
Application: Mix AquaPrime Flexible Primer- Surfacer well before using. This material is ready to use as received but can be reduced with distilled water to obtain lower spray viscosity.

Surface to be coated should be thoroughly cleaned to remove any existing road film, dust, grease or any other dirt or surface contaminant. Dry surface before application.

Spray apply 1 - 3 medium wet coats of AquaPrime.

Flash dry for 5 minutes between coats

Air dry for 1 to 2 hours y Force dry for 40 minutes at 140o F 01/1
